Join us for the 35th annual Bardstown Road Aglow on Saturday, December 5, 2020, beginning at noon until 10 p.m.
Masks/face-coverings and social distancing mandates will be required while attending the outdoor festivities and shops.
Due to the new Covid-19 guidelines, Highlands restaurants will offer carryout, curbside, and limited outdoor dining. Please also consider gift cards to support our local businesses & restaurants in these challenging times.
With the state’s new guidelines for Covid-19 prevention in place, organizers for Bardstown Road Aglow are making sure that the outdoor event has additional safety precautions for those who wish to attend.
Aaron Givhan, president of the Highland Commerce Guild, has released a statement saying that safety comes first:
“We did consider not doing anything for Bardstown Road Aglow 2020, but with a history of attendance for a 35-year-old outdoor event, we believe people will come to the Highlands regardless of cancellation or not. In having the Louisville Metro Police Department on board, mandates in place, working with restaurants, bars, and businesses is our way to minimize and manage the current issues. Ignoring this situation was not an option for us. For those with additional concerns, please consider finding opportunities to support local businesses in the Highlands by buying gift certificates or shopping online.”
Special discounts on food, drinks, and merchandise at participating restaurants and shops along Bardstown Road, Baxter & Barret Avenues, and Douglass Loop. The Barret Avenue Adventure now extends the Aglow festivities from Breckinridge Street to Winter Avenue.
Elijah Craig Bourbon will be featured in festive holiday cocktails. Elijah Craig is a part of the Heaven Hill Distilleries in Kentucky and the event’s title sponsor. “To-go Cup” options available. A portion of the proceeds will go to Gilda's Club.
The Highland Commerce Guild extended the hours to help spread out any crowds and give eventgoers more space to enjoy the many holiday festivities in a safe manner.
Thanks to the Louisville Federation of Musicians, will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at several pop-up locations along Bardstown Road.
WAVE3’s Connie Leonard and Kent Taylor will host the annual Wendy’s Holiday Tree Lighting along with jolly ole Santa Claus and festive music at a safe, social distance. Masks and social distancing required.
Additional security for the holiday event will be provided by Louisville Metro Police, Fifth Division.
The public is invited to take photos of shops and businesses with the best holiday decorations and post them to social media (Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter):
Restaurants offer carry-out, curbside, and limited outdoor dining due to new restrictions on indoor dining.
Shops also offer online and carry-out options. Please also consider purchasing gift cards in these challenging times.
Bardstown Road Aglow is organized by the Highland Commerce Guild and is the largest night of commerce for Highlands-area merchants.
