36th Bardstown Road Aglow 2021 features holiday light up festivities in the Highlands of Louisville, kentucky
Join us for the 36th annual Bardstown Road Aglow on Saturday, December 4, 2021, beginning at noon until 10 p.m. This year will focus on supporting local businesses by boosting holiday sales at Highlands restaurants and shops.
CDC & state recommendations for Covid precaution measures such as masks and social distancing will be required while attending the outdoor festivities and shops.
We hope you enjoy the festive decorations and discounts at participating businesses for the biggest night of commerce in the Highlands.
Holiday Shopping Online & In-store Options
Special discounts on food, drinks, and merchandise at participating restaurants and shops along Bardstown Road, Baxter & Barret Avenues, and Douglass Loop. The Barret Avenue Adventure now extends the Aglow festivities from Breckinridge Street to Winter Avenue.
Festive holiday Drinks
Elijah Craig Bourbon will be featured in festive holiday cocktails. Elijah Craig is a part of the Heaven Hill Distilleries in Kentucky and the event’s title sponsor. A portion of the proceeds will go to Gilda's Club.

Expanded hours from noon to 10:00 p.m.
The Highland Commerce Guild has again extended the hours for Aglow to help spread out any crowds and give eventgoers more space to enjoy the many holiday festivities in a safe manner. Masks and social distancing required for the event.
Live holiday music & Free trolley rides
Thanks to the Louisville Federation of Musicians, will take place at several pop-up locations along Bardstown Road as well as free Trolley rides.
Wendy's Holiday Tree Lighting
WAVE3’s Connie Leonard and Kent Taylor will host the annual Wendy’s Holiday Tree Lighting at 6:00 p.m. along with jolly ole Santa Claus and festive music at a safe, social distance.
The holiday tree is located outside Wendy's restaurant, 1108 Bardstown Road (corner of Grinstead Drive), Louisville, KY 40204. Festivities will take place in the parking lot outdoors.
The theme for this year's tree lighting is "Lighting the Way to Peace and Unity in the Highlands."
Sponsors include Highland Community Ministries, Wendy's and LG&E.
Additional Security
Additional security for the holiday event will be provided by Louisville Metro Police, Fifth Division.
Social Media Photo Contests
The public is invited to take photos of shops and businesses with the best holiday decorations and post them to Instagram:
- Shops and restaurants will compete in the Window Wonderland Contest with the hashtag #Wonderland502. There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
- In addition, the Instagram Photo Contest (#Aglow502) for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best Christmas themed photos is sponsored by Murphy’s Camera.

In addition to indoor dining, Highlands restaurants offer carry-out, curbside service.

Bardstown Road Aglow is organized by the Highland Commerce Guild and is the largest night of commerce for Highlands-area merchants.
